Welcome Everyone! I’m Margaret Sabia, the creator and host of the Dailymotion/ YouTube Channel and blog Deliciously Sweet and Savory! I am a self-taught baker and cook who loves how diverse food is around the world. As someone who earned many degrees that focused on people and culture, I love the anthropological component of food. In other words, I enjoy the cultural aspect of food. It isn’t just about consumption or nutritional value. Food provides enjoyment and comfort. It connects people together not just family and friends but also people of different cultures, as well as viewers and visitors like you! Food provides an opportunity to learn about other cultures and it brings us all a little closer together through increased understanding. For me cooking and baking has served as an outlet to break-up the stress in my life. It also allowed me to explore the wonderful food other cultures have to offer and bring that experience to my family whom due to financial hardship and ongoing health issues are unable to go out to restaurants or travel.
I started Deliciously Sweet and Savory to share my love of food and recipes with others, because food is best enjoyed in the company of others! The goal of my channel and blog is to take my viewers (or what I like to call my extended family) on a culinary journey together across food from various cultures with the first recipe series being dedicated to Cuban Food. As the daughter of a Cuban immigrant, I want to highlight some amazing recipes I’ve learned over the years from my mother and Abuela as well as baking recipes I’ve recreated based on food memories from my childhood. From there I will be branching out and creating more video series for other types of cuisine (e.g., Italian, American, Chinese, Japanese, etc.).
